First Regional Pinot Noir Festival – Modri Les Noirs in Slovenia

Pinot Noir is one of the most sensuously fragrant red grapes and the wine is the most highly prized wine in the world. For the very first time in our region – SEE – the best producers of Pinot Noirs are getting together on the occasion of “Modri Les Noirs – Pinot Noirs Festival and Master Class”, taking place from October 20th – 21st at the KendovDvorecRelais& Châteaux, Slovenia, initiated by TILIA Estate.

“While most of the producers would claim that Pinot Noir is demanding, problematic, even moody, for me it simply beautifully challenging. We all aspire to be creative, this is our drive, and everyone would like to test ourselves in something that is provocative. For me, this is Pinot Noir,” claims Matjaž Lemut, the driving force of TILIA Estate, House of Pinots and an internationally acclaimed expert in the field of viticulture and winemaking. He is a sought-after oenologist, who consults also Croatian wineries, such as Feravino in Slavonija and Ipša in Istria.

Saturday’s Master Class will be hosted by internationally renowned wine expert Quentin Sadler, a wine educator, writer and blogger with more than three decades of experience in wine marketing. With his original approach, serious and humorous stories, visitors will be taken through the native wine country of Burgundy and through the originality of production in Slovenia.

Winemakers will reveal their creative paths and secrets, which made the wine unique and will have the opportunity to continue the discussion over dinner. Many renowned wine producers are going to present their wines, for example, Dveri-Pax, PosestvoBurja, VinaizMedaneKristančičDušan in Marko, MarjanSimčič, Ščurek vino, Vino KupljenJeruzalem, Pasji rep, VinaBenčina, VinarijaKorak, VinarijaTomac, VinarijaŠember, VinarijaKovačević etc.

On Sunday, the Festival will be dedicated to tastings of over 15 different Pinot Noirs, debates with winemakers, the workshop about selecting the most appropriate glass and mini Masterclass, led by Sadler. Pinot Noirs is known as a wine that demands an enormous amount of communication between winemaker and wine lover.

“We both desire it. Slovenia and our region in broader sense has been developing remarkably, creativity is on high level, we reached the point on which we deserve Festival of this kind – and who else is called to organize it, if not we, House of Pinots, “adds Lemut, described as “the most cosmopolitan winemaker from Slovenia by The Financial Times.
