A wine that is more Pinot Noir in style, blended from Darnekuša and Plavac Mali some of which has been co-fermented with local white varieties to add elegance and floral tones. Crunchy red cherry and a silky texture yet still retaining the structure of a serious wine. Partly matured in French barrique and ferment with wild yeast this wine is perfect with the fresher food we eat in summer (both fish and meat) and can be served lightly chilled.
Unfiltered and unfined. Natural yeast. The idea behind this wine is to make something that is concentrated and complex but which could be drink lightly chilled with lighter food. Jo Ahearne have been working on the blend for a few years and this year decided to use the tannins from skin contact whites to add to the tannins of Plavac and Darnekuša to produce the silky texture of Pinot Noir. Since each wine has tannins that develop at a different rate Jo have used a multi vintage blend to achieve what she want: 2015 Plavac, 2016 Darnekuša and 2019 Pošip.
“Often people name a big, oaky red after the ‘patriarch’ but my father was not a macho person. He had a strong character but was quietly spoken and elegant. Since I named my Darnekuša rosé after my mother I decided to name this quietly spoken and elegant Darnekuša-based wine after my father, the original Terence Patrick. “
