Vintage 2021. Family Josić from Osijek in 1999 bought an old wine cellar from 1935. They have restored it, equip it with modern technology while preserving the traditional look of the wine cellar. At the same time, they bought around 1.6 hectares of old vineyards. Josić Wines are made from authentic Baranja varieties that ripen in ancient vineyards on Banova kosa. The restaurant and winery are located in the ambiance of the so-called Sarduk, in the idyllic Baranja village Zmajevac. Sarduk is a Turkish name for the characteristic opening in the hill with wine cellars buried in the ground, so-called gators. Characteristic for Sarduk is that the temperature is consistent at any time of the year, between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius. Ideal for wine.
This unique semi-sweet blend was created by combining three varieties of wine (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouscehet) from two different harvest years (2017+2018). The basis of this blend is the Cabernet Franc selected for the 2018 harvest. Dehydration of ripe bunches on the vine led to an intensification of the amount of sugar, aroma and taste of overripe cherries, raisins and dried figs. Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2017 harvest contributes to the rounding of the aroma, introducing into the wine refined aromas of caramel, leather and tobacco. The ruby color with garnet shades is preserved by aging the wine in oak barrels. The wine has a strong rich structure, a long-lasting taste with balanced acids, ripe tannins and a fine silky texture. Alcoholic strength of 13.0% vol. with moderate sweetness with 17 g/l of residual unfermented sugar places this wine in the group of wines “for every day”, and due to its seductiveness, it can also be paired with desserts.
