Zmajska was founded in 2013 and became the first genuine Croatian craft brewery. After a long practice in homebrewing, their idea was to open a brewery and set up new trends on the domestic market by making different beers that haven’t been available in Croatia before. From day one the idea was to brew the beers they like to drink. According to Ratebeer, in the first year in business Zmajska was ranked in the top 10 new breweries in the world. Their porter was rated amongst the 15 best porters.

What do you get when you combine top brewers, winemakers and a chef? This special beer is a unique collab between Varionica Brewery, barrel-aged program experts Zmajska Brewery, Slovenian masters of yeast Barut Brewing and Blending and renowned Bicih Winery. Gastro consultant on the project was chef Mate Jankovic. It’s a complex beer, characterized as Old Ale (Flanders Brown), aged for 9 months in wooden barrels, with a high percentage of alcohol. It’s full o malt body, with fruity and woody aromas. The beer won the gold medal at London’s “European Beer Challenge”
