The Vinum winery is located in Abruzzo, Italy, where Vassilios Roberto Dragani, his wife Natalia, and his sister continue the multi-generational history of winemaking. In addition to making wines from their organic estate vineyards in Aburzzo, The Vinum also makes wines from Piemonte (Piedmont) as well as Toscano (Tuscany), partnering with vineyards in those iconic regions to source the best grapes to make their classic and elegant wines. This is a classic Montepulciano d’Abruzzo made with 100% Montepulciano grapes. Unlike many red wines which need time to age before being consumed, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is fantastic as a young wine and has the staying power be cellared for a decade or more. Visually this wine is stunning, dark, almost inky, with a silky appearance when swirled. On the nose, wild berries meld together with earth in this solid savory red. The juicy straightforward palate doles out ripe black cherry, crushed raspberry, anise and cinnamon alongside chewy tannins. This wine has a lush, almost syrupy mouthfeel.
