Cupid’s Choice

The story of the Benvenuti winery is a story of family, tradition and terroir. Situated in the quiet Istrian village of Kaldir, overlooking Motovun, where three grape varieties grow – Malvasia Istriana, Teran and Muscat. This wine comprised of the most significant Istrian red varieties comes from the vineyards of Španjola, located 300 meters above sea level.

When Mike Pulley left his corporate career in London to pursue his dream of starting a boutique winery on the Dalmatian coast, his friends called him delusional.

Delusional Rosé is made from the indigenous Dalmatian grape Babić. This wine, with flavours of cherry, pomegranate and minerality, exhibits the characteristics of the sun-kissed, windswept karst limestone terroir overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

Delusion winery is situated along the Dalmatian coast in the village of Jadrtovac, near the city of Šibenik – an area gaining recent attention for the restoration of its former prominence in European winemaking history.

Family Josić from Osijek 1999 bought an old wine cellar from 1935. They have restored it and equipped it with modern technology while preserving the traditional look of the wine cellar. At the same time, they bought around 1.6 hectares of old vineyards. Josić Wines are made from authentic Baranja varieties that ripen in ancient vineyards on Banova kosa. The restaurant and winery are located in the ambiance of the so-called Sarduk, in the idyllic Baranja village Zmajevac. Sarduk is a Turkish name for the characteristic opening in the hill with wine cellars buried in the ground, so-called gators. A characteristic of Sarduk is that the temperature is consistent at any time of the year,  between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius. Ideal for wine.
