The Vinum Barbaresco 2009

The Vinum winery is located in Abruzzo, Italy, where Vassilios Roberto Dragani, his wife Natalia, and his sister continue the multi-generational history of winemaking.  In addition to making wines from their organic estate vineyards in Aburzzo, The Vinum also makes wines from Piemonte (Piedmont) as well as Toscano (Tuscany), partnering with vineyards in those iconic regions to source the best grapes to make their classic and elegant wines.  The Vinum presents a full portfolio representing the best of Italy’s native varietals and wine regions including Barolo, Barbaresco, Chianti, Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, as well as some inventive blends from Tuscany and Piedmont. Sustainability of the land and respect for tradition are guiding principles for The Vinum.

This wine won a Silver Medal at the 2017 Decanter World Wine Awards and noted wine critic James Suckling scored it a 92 saying it “is seriously rich and ripe now … Full body, round and flavorful… Long and persistent finish. Chewy. Drink or hold.”  What else is there to say?”. The nose is sensual in its complexity, with aromas of forest fruits, sweet red cherries, licorice, mineral and coffee scents. The taste is long, with a complex finish with fine, silk-like tannins and good acidity; dense structure, full of super-ripe fruit.
