In the village of Radovani near Višnjan in Istria, is located one of the most famous Istrian winemakers, Franko Radovan. Franko is in wine-making since the late 90ies, as he points out, he is the fourth generation of the family which is in winemaking for more than 100 years. They produce Istrian Malvasia, Chardonnay, Teran, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. They cultivate their grapes on inherited and completely renovated vineyards, which spread around the village Radovani, on an area of about 7 hectares.
This wine is adorned with beautiful straw-yellow color with shiny gold edges, the wine is crystal clear and partially dense. The intensity of the smell is expressed, and the quality of smell is nice and pleasant. At the first smell floral notes of white flowers are dominant, mixed with a little citrus, peel of grapefruit and a little lime. Later grassy notes and reminiscent of freshly mown spring grass occur. And some chives from the market, therefore, the complexity of the smell is partially rich. The wine is dry, partially warm, partly soft, on the other hand pleasantly fresh and has a pleasant minerality, typical of Franko’s Chardonnay. It has medium body and it is well balanced. It has a pronounced flavor intensity, and long-lasting on the retro-taste. Again citrus fruit aromas occur.
